Lingual STB

Lingual STB braces provide a perfect solution for patients who are worried about their appearance when they wear braces, and this is one of the main reasons why we are happy to offer it to patients at our Liverpool Braces Clinic. For many the thought of wearing fixed metal braces fills them with dread because as they can be obvisou and make a real difference to the way you look. Lingual STB braces are a different story because they are fixed to the lingual side (the back) of the teeth, rather than the front.

What are the advantages of lingual STB braces?

Many people would assume that lingual braces must be very uncomfortable because of the proximity of the tongue to the metal brace, but this is not the case. Lingual STB braces have been specially designed, using self-ligating technology, to reduce friction between the tongue and the brace so the patient should experience very little pain. The most advantageous aspect of lingual braces is the fact that they are almost totally invisible to other people, which will relinquish any concerns you may have when the braces are fitted. Lingual STB braces are made of fine wires and brackets so friction is kept to a minimum and comfort is maximised.

How long will treatment take?

Everyone is different so treatment times vary considerably. The time you will have to wear braces will depend on the nature of your orthodontic problems but one of your resident dentists will be able to discuss this with you before you have the braces fitted.

Are lingual braces suitable for everyone?

Lingual STB braces are suitable for a number of different orthodontic problems and can be used to treat severe cases, as greater control is achieved by the braces. Patients who cannot have an aligner based orthodontic treatment, for example, may benefit from having lingual STB braces.
